I am a RDH and consider my profession part of the healthcare industry yet I don’t see alot of attention towards dentistry. Do you think the Healthcare career Fair will open itself up to include the dental professions?

Question: I’m looking to relaunch my career in ICU nursing after being at home for 15 years. I’ve completed courses on updating my skills and completed my BLS and ACLS. I’ve submitted my resume on-line. What other actions would you suggest I take?

Congratulations on your decision to return to Nursing! You’ve done some of the right things, but because there have been so many changes in practice since you worked in the field, you will most likely need to take a refresher course that includes clinical rotations in order to make your self competitive and viable to potential employers. That is even in cases where you have successfully maintained your license while you were not practicing.

You are also entering a very competitive job market, even for nursing. I would also recommend that you network with your colleagues that have remained in the profession and really look at what you are truly open to in order to re-launch your career. That potentially includes being open to more than one level of care and expanding the list of facilities that you would consider.
